Gordon Pinsent

Gordon Pinsent, CC, FRSC ( born July 12, 1930 in Grand Falls -Windsor, Newfoundland) is a Canadian actor.

Life

Pinsent was the youngest child of six children. His parents were Flossie (nee Cooper) and Stephen Arthur Pinsent ( paper mill workers and Schuster ). In his childhood he suffered from rickets. His acting career began at the age of 17 years. Already in the 1940s he took roles in radio plays in the Canadian radio and later played in television films. In the early 1950s his military service led him to an acting break. He did four years of service in the Canadian military. In the 1960s he gained popularity by Canadian television series, such as in Scarlett Hill but was known for his work on the CBC children's series Indian River. Furthermore, he starred in Quentin Durgens, MP, A Gift to Last, The Red Green Show, Due South ( as a film Mountie Benton Fraser 's father ), Wind at My Back and Power Play. He is one of the most respected and popular actors in Canada. His career has been recognized through numerous awards and State Canadian film awards.

He was also in the films with Lydia, The Rowdyman, Who Has Seen the Wind, John and the Missus, The Shipping News, and at her side. Gordon Pinsent married in 1962, the actress Charmion King. They were married until her death in 2007. His daughter Leah Pinsent is also an actress. In 1992, his autobiography, By the Way.
