Górki, Gmina Stary Dzierzgoń

Gorki ( German Görken ) is a village in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is very close to the border with the Province of Warmia and Mazury in Sztumski powiat ( county Stuhm ) and belongs to the rural community Dzierzgoń Stary ( Old Christburg ).

Geographical location

Gorki is located about 30 kilometers southeast of the Powiathauptstadt Sztum ( Stuhm ) on the northwestern edge of the Landscape Park Eylauer Lakeland ( Landscape Park Pojezierza Iławskiego ). The village is accessible by the province road 515 Stary Dzierzgoń (Alt Christburg ) via Piaski Morąskie ( Sandhof ). Until 1945 there was rail connection via the station United Münsterberg ( Monasterzysko Wielkie ) on the railway line Miswalde ( Myślice ) - Giant Castle ( Prabuty ) - Marienwerder ( Kwidzyn ), which is still only between Prabuty and Kwidzyn in operation.

History

The village of around 1820 called also " Görcken " was at that time only a small village with a good. In 1874, he joined the newly established District Old Christchurch Castle (now Polish: Stary Dzierzgoń ) incorporated and belonged to the circle Morag in the district of Königsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia.

In 1910 115 residents were registered in Görken. Their number increased to 1933 to 142 in 1939 and amounted to 141

As a result of the Second World War came Görken 1945 Poland and received the Polish name " Gorki ". The village is now in the powiat Sztumski ( circle Stuhm ) and is part of the Pomeranian Voivodeship ( 1975-1998 Elbląg Voivodeship ( Elbing ) ).

Church

The majority of the population Görkens belonged before 1945 to the Protestant church. The village was in the parish of Old Christchurch Castle (now Polish: Stary Dzierzgoń ) the parish, for the parish of Morag ( Morag ) belonged to the Church of the Old Prussian Union within the Ecclesiastical Province of East Prussia.

Today, the majority of residents Gorky's Catholic denomination. The place belongs to the parish Dzierzgoń Stary ( Old Christburg ) in the Office of the Dean Dzierzgoń ( Christburg ) of the Diocese of Elbląg ( Elbing ) of the Catholic Church in Poland. Here surviving Protestant church members are the congregation in Mikołajki Pomorskie ( Nikolaiken, 1939-1945 Niklas churches ) assigned, which is a branch of the parish church in Elbląg ( Elbing ) and belongs to the Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Mazury in Poland.
