The Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport ( IATA code GOZ, ICAO code LBGO ) is a Bulgarian airport in the north of the country. It is 1 km north of Gorna Oryahovitsa and 12 kilometers north-east of Veliko Tarnovo, about the halfway mark between the capital Sofia and Varna.

The airport has an ILS and VOR- DME and NDB. There is only one taxiway.

There are no regular flights (as of December 2011). It occasionally find cargo and charter flights instead, and general aviation flights.

History

The airfield was in 1925 and used until 1948, mainly military, but also as an alternate airfield for flights between the two major Bulgarian cities Sofia and Varna.

The third regular route Sofia Bulgaria set up - 1948 was on the line Sofia - Gorna Oryahovitsa.

1969-1973 a new terminal building was constructed, and a new start and runway of 2450 m length and a runway. On the runway aircraft can land up to a landing weight of 200 t.

1975-1978 a new severance and administration building and a new pier was built. The storage space on the apron was enlarged so that two large aircraft, two medium and one small aircraft find it place.

1992 a new building was built for air traffic control. In 1995, the airfield was declared an international airport and set up a Customs Clearance and Customs station.
