Górnik Wałbrzych

Górnik Wałbrzych (official club Sportowy Górnik Wałbrzych ) is a sports club from the Polish city of Wałbrzych ( German: Waldenburg ).

Club history

The club was founded on March 22, 1946. Between 1983 and 1989, played Górnik Wałbrzych total of 6 seasons in the Polish 1st League. Highest placement was the 6th place in the 1983/84 season and 1985/86 respectively. In the early 1990s came Gornik in large financial problems and had to merge with city rivals Zagłębie Wałbrzych. The club was founded in 1992 KP Wałbrzych, later Gornik / Zagłębie Wałbrzych and played in the second league. However, the sporting descent continued, so that the club, which now Górnik Wałbrzych was called, in 2008 played in the 4th Polish league. 2009/2010 it rose to the 2nd Polish League (Season West) and thus in the third- highest division in the country. In the late 1960s and 1970s the club was considered a great talent of Polish football. 1968 and 1973 could win the Polish Youth Championship.
