The Gotha Station is the main train station of the Thuringian town of Gotha. He is maintenance of ICs, as well as two hours of ICEs on the Thuringian Railway. More fitting lines are the Ohratalbahn to the south and the railway line Gotha - leash field to the north.

History

The Gotha station was built in 1847, when the railway line from hall was built in the Hessian Bebra. Gotha was at this time the state capital of Saxony- Gotha and already had about 15,000 inhabitants. According representative and the classical station building was executed. The station was the junction of several lines. 1929 was built by Gotha station through the city center to the towns Tabarz, Walter Hausen and Friedrichsroda with the Thüringerwaldbahn an overland tram. During the Second World War, the west wing and central part of the Gotha station was destroyed in air raids, while the east wing and entrance area survived. This state is maintained until today, with few repairs.

2007, the station forecourt has been completely redesigned and relocated the stop of the Thuringian Forest Railway.

Regional Transport

In regional transport of Thuringia Gotha is a hub.

In the current timetable year 2013/2014 the regional train line 20 leads Eisenach - Halle ( Saale) by Gotha, which connects with neighboring nodes Eisenach and Erfurt wrong once per hour in both directions and Gotha. In addition, Gotha is served by the long-running regional express line 1 every two hours, which binds Coming Gotha of Göttingen to the cities Leinefelde, Mulhouse and Bad Langensalza.
