Grand-Bourg

Grand -Bourg is a municipality with 5470 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the southwestern Caribbean island of Marie -Galante. It is there, the capital of the canton of the same name, is politically to the French overseas department of Guadeloupe. The northern neighboring community is Saint- Louis. A feature of the landscape are the corals. It was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493 and since 1648 the French state belonging.

The island has its own Communauté de communes, the Communauté de communes de Marie -Galante.

Important economic activities are the import trade, fishing and tourism.

The sister city of Grand -Bourg is Bagneux.
