Grand Mountet Hut

The Cabane du Mountet is an alpine refuge in the Valais Alps. It lies at an altitude of 2,886 m above sea level. M. above the eastern lateral moraine of the Zinalgletschers in the Val d' Anniviers. Owner of the cottage is based in Lausanne section Diablerets of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC ). The hut is often referred to distinguish lying on the other side of the Zinalgletschers Cabane Petit Mountet as Cabane du Grand Mountet.

History

The lodge was built in 1887. Extensions were made in the years 1943 and 1996.

Rise

The shortest climb to the hut begins in Zinal in the rear of the Val d' Anniviers and takes about 4 ½ hours. About an hour longer it takes to rise above the Cabane Petit Mounts ( with traversal of Zinalgletschers ).

Climbs

The Cabane de Tracuit is the starting point for ascents of Besso ( 3'668 m), Zinalrothorn ( 4,221 m), Dent Blanche ( 4'357 m) and Obergabelhorn ( 4'063 m).
