Grand Slam Tokyo

The Jigoro Kano Cup is a traditional Judo Invitational Tournament of the Japanese in honor of the supreme master of Judo Jigoro Kano. It runs over 2 days, always takes place in Tokyo and is very strongly held.

As the first foreigner ever interrupted Dietmar Lorenz 1978, the winning streak of the Japanese judoka. 1994 Martin Schmidt won in the weight class - 71 kg. 2006 won Ludwig Paischer in the weight class - 60 kg.

The Jigoro Kano Cup is supported by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Olympic Committee of Japan and the Nippon Budokan.
