Grasberg

History

The village Grasberg consists of the villages Eickedorf and Wörpedorf that were founded in the 18th century during the colonization of the Teufelsmoor by Jürgen Christian Findorff. On a sand hill ( about 5 m above sea level) was built in 1785 at the instigation of Findorff the grass Berger church to which developed in 1831, first mentioned place.

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Adolphsdorf, Dannenberg, Huxfeld, Otter Stone, Rautendorf, Schmalenbeck, Seehausen and Tüschendorf as well as parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Heidberg were incorporated. On 1 July 1976, a part of the territory of the municipality Wilstedt was added with time slightly less than 50 inhabitants ( Wilstedter Moor ). Parts of the territory of the neighboring community Tarmstedt ( Tarmstedter Moor ) followed in 1983.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Heraldic silver, in the sign, a green mountain, topped with a wave bar, above a red tower with a pointed roof and golden cross on both sides, accompanied by a green oak leaf.

Structures

  • The Lutheran. Church was built in 1781-89 by Jürgen Christian Findorff. It holds a special feature, the originally built in 1694 for a hamburger orphanage Baroque organ by Arp Schnitger. It is in their shape, the only surviving small town organ of this known organ builder.

Events

In the third week of July is held annually, on the occasion of the Marksmen's Festival in the district Huxfeld, the village parade.
