Grenville Morris

Arthur Grenville Morris ( born April 13, 1877 in Builth Wells, † November 27, 1959 ) was a Welsh football player. He denied 1896-1912 21 appearances for the Welsh national football team, scoring nine goals. He spent the majority of his playing career at English club Nottingham Forest.

Career as a player

Nottingham Forest

Grenville Morris joined in 1898 at the age of 21 years to the reigning English Cup winners Nottingham Forest. In the First Division in 1900/ 01, he reached with his team to fourth, down one place behind local rivals Notts County. A better result could Morris with his club in the years to not reach, but Forest 1905/ 06 rose in the First Division as a table next to last in the Second Division from. The second class was limited to only one year, because Nottingham Forest went straight back to the first division. There occupied the Movers ninth and teammate Morris West Enoch won with 28 goals, the top scorer. In the 1910/11 season Forest occupied the last place for the first time and had to join the Morris in the second division for the second time. He spent the following two years in the second class Second Division and finished his playing career in 1913. With 217 goals in 460 official matches he is today on the first place in the all scorers Nottingham Forest.

Welsh national team

Grenville Morris played his first international game for the Welsh national football team in 1896 at the age of 18 years. Overall, he played 21 international matches for the selection of his country, scoring nine goals. His last international game he played on March 12, 1912 against the English national football team.
