Grigore IV. Ghica

Grigore IV Ghica or Grigore Dimitrie Ghica ( June 30, 1755 *, † April 29, 1834 ) was in the period of June 30, 1822 to April 29, 1828 the ruler of Wallachia.

Life

1822 appointed by the Sultan after the end of Phanariotenherrschaft the local boyars Grigore Dimitrie Ghica in Wallachia and Ionita Sandu Sturdza in Moldavia to princes, to eliminate the growing contrast between Romanians and Greeks. Grigore IV Ghica was ousted after the outbreak of the Russo -Turkish War in 1828.

From the first marriage of the Prince with Maria Hangerly came six sons ( Costache, Iorgu, Scarlat, Grigore, Panait and Dimitrie ). With his second wife Eufrosina Săvescu he had two daughters ( Mary and Alexandrina ). Prince Ghica was the uncle of Dora d'Istria.
