Grit Hammer

Grit Hammer (born head; born June 4, 1966 in Saalfeld / Saale) is a former German shot putter and weightlifter.

She went for the GDR at the European Indoor Championships in 1990 in Glasgow, winning in the shot put with 19.53 meters bronze behind Claudia Losch and Natalia Lissowskaja. Three inches behind her occupied Astrid Kumbernuss fourth place. At the European Indoor Championships 1992, she finished seventh with 17.89 m, in 1994 she won with 18.58 m in fifth place.

At the World Indoor Championships in Barcelona in 1995 she won with 19.02 m in fourth place behind the Russian Larissa Peleschenko, the German Kathrin Neimke and the US-American Connie Price - Smith. Peleschenko but was disqualified after the event because of doping, and Grit Hammer received the bronze medal.

Under her birth name Grit main they came in 1987 with 20.72 m personal best. As they putter in 1987 was second in the GDR Championships and 1994 second at the German Championships.

Their only national title won Grit hammer not as athlete, but in 1993 the top of the weight class weightlifters. The Weightlifting European Championships in 1994, she finished fourth.

The 1,80 m tall athlete weighed in their active time more than 90 kg. With the discus in 1984 it reached 65.96 m. By 1990 they started for the SC motor Jena. After the turn she went to the athletics community LAC source.
