Grönland Records

Greenland is an independent record label that was founded by singer, record producer and actor Herbert Grönemeyer 1999. The headquarters was a long time in London, and now the label in Berlin is located.

The Board members also heard a friend of Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn Grönemeyer, who has become known for, among other works for Depeche Mode and U2.

History

Grönemeyer actively participated the TV series Pop 2000, which tells the story of 50 years of pop music and youth culture in Germany. In connection with this work - and to be able to the albums of Krautrock group Neu! to publish on CD - he founded the record label Greenland Records. According to self- report is aim of the label to give artists greater freedom in the implementation of their projects, including marketing. Greenland has a private studio in London's Mayfair Studios, where previously, among other things Radiohead, Coldplay and Björk was added. Greenland Records operates with Polar Bear publishing his own music publishing, which is also external artists for publications.

The label itself was directed by Herbert Grönemeyer by the end of 2008, along with René Renner, who was in charge of A & R at EMI before. Since 2009, the label is completely based in Berlin and is staffed by labelmanager Mareike Hettler. Since published in 2002 album man also Grönemeyer's own publications appear in Greenland, but the sales will continue providing his longtime record label EMI.
