Groupe Limagrain

Group Limagrain (also: Groupe Limagrain or Limagrain ) is a French agricultural corporation headquartered in Chappe (Puy -de- Dôme). Limagrain is specialized in crop and vegetable seed and cereal products.

History

1942 was founded the Cooperative for the Production and Sale of Seed Bred in the Massif Central. 1970, the name Limagrain was accepted and the first research station for maize was established in Aubiat. In 1979, the first corn research station added in the United States. In the same year, the company Vilmorin was acquired, bringing the vegetable seed production began. 1986 saw the establishment of the first biotechnology laboratory in Clermont -Ferrand. Nickerson 1992, the company was acquired. In 1999, Limagrain Jacquet and thus began the production of baked goods. The company Clause (France) and Harris - Morgan ( USA) were purchased. In the same year Limagrain also founded Biogemma, a biotechnology company for crops. In 2000, Limagrain founded in cooperation with KWS AgReliant, a corn and soybean business in North America. Further acquisitions in recent years were Advanta Europe ( 2005), Mikado Seed Growers (2006, Japan), MILCAMPS Food (2008, Belgium), Dahlco Seeds (2009, USA), Clovis Matton (2009, Belgium) and Créperie Lebreton (2009, France). 2010 expanded Limagrain in the United States and Argentina. The headquarters of the German Limagrain office is located in Edemissen.

2009/10 Limagrain achieved sales of 1,349 million euros. Of this amount, 64% to Europe, 20 % in America, 8% to Africa and the Middle East, and 8 % in Asia and Oceania. On seed 79 % of revenues were generated ( 39% to crops, 40% from vegetables); 21 % Made from grain products. The profit was 69 million euros. The number of employees was in the same year just under 6,700.

Vilmorin is the fourth largest seed producer and second largest producer of vegetable seeds in the world and the largest producer of crop seeds in Europe. Jacquet is the second largest bakery company in France.
