Grümpel

The Grümpel is about 12.5 km long left source stream of Kronach in Upper Franconia.

Course

The Grümpel rises south of the municipality Tschirn at an altitude of approximately 606 m. The creek initially flows south through a wooded area. In the small pond iron source of Tiefenbach from the left opens into the Grümpel. East of Wilhelm Thal- Effelter it flows through a deep valley. At Stone Meadow Birnbaum it is fed from the left through the village stream and Wilhelm Thal- Lahm opens from the left of God Jewellers Bach in the Grümpel one. Shortly thereafter (about 40 m) it flows right to the ball stream and after about 200 m of Steinbach. South of Wilhelm Thal- Hesselbach their water mass is amplified by the Sperlesbach from the left side. Recently her flowing to or from the left of the glass stream and shingle stream. When Wilhelm Thal ( mouth height about 356 m) combined they finally with the Kremnitz to Kronach.

Until the mid-20th century were on their run a flour mill and a saw mill, both of which are no longer in operation.
