Grüze

Groat is a district of the city of Winterthur. Together with the neighborhoods Guggenbühl Talacker, Hegmatten, Hegi, Zinzikon, Reutlingen, Stadel and Ricketwil it forms the circle 2 (Upper Winterthur).

Neighborhood structure

The district Grüze is a commercial and industrial area. From the Winterthur - Grüze station from the district extends in an easterly direction. In addition to large industrial companies dominate shopping centers today face the district.

The Quarter, a large change is predicted in the coming decades. Part of the district is part of the urban development area Neuhegi and is located in a planning area of cantonal importance. The city planners assume that the quarter will be up to the year 2030 a second center of Winterthur (so-called bipolar city). In the eastern quarter portion big changes are already visible since 2005. On the former industrial site of Sulzer AG, a large city park has been created and there were residential buildings created with hundreds of units.

Traffic

From public transportation, the lodging with the lines 3, 5, and 14 of the Winterthur city bus is accessed. The architecturally unique and listed station Winterthur Grüze opens up the quarter with the S-Bahn. Two main roads open up the Grüze to motorized traffic: the St.Gallerstrasse in east-west direction and the Seenerstrasse in north-south direction.
