Gudrun Theuerkauff

Gudrun Theuerkauff, born Vorbrich, ( born April 8, 1937 in Szczecin ) is a former German fencer.

Gudrun Vorbrich married before the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 their teammates from the OFC Bonn Jürgen Theuerkauff and was as Gudrun Theuerkauff - Vorbrich with the foil team Fourth, while her husband also won the team bronze foil. After these Olympics she started only as Gudrun Theuerkauff.

At the 1964 Olympic Games Heidi Schmid, Rosemarie Schernberger, Helga Mees and Gudrun Theuerkauff failed in the semifinals of the later Olympic champions from Hungary. In the small final, the Germans fought against the Italians and won bronze.

After the 1968 Olympics, where she was fifth with the team again, she retired, now a mother of three children, from the competitive sport back. After the German team had remained at the World Fencing Championship in 1971 without any success, Gudrun Theuerkauff was persuaded to make a comeback and took in Munich in 1972 for the fourth time in the Olympic Games in part. With the team, she was again fifth.

The studied physical education teacher never won a single title in a German Cup second place in 1967 was her best performance. With their energy but it was successful for many years as a team fencer and was in the Olympics once third, fourth once and fifth twice with the team.
