Gudziki

Gudziki ( German Godocken ) is a village in Poland in the Warmia - Mazury.

Geography

The village is located about seven kilometers southeast of Korsze ( Korschen ) and twelve kilometers northwest of Ketrzyn ( Rastenburg ) in the north of the Masurian Lake District.

History

The village was located in 1329 with ten Wloka in Balga Commandery of the Teutonic Order in 1429 and mentioned as Gaudiken. The name refers to a named Prussians Gaude and derives from " gaudykla " ( hunting grounds of the trapper ). By the end of the 15th century it belonged to the parish Garbno ( Lamgarben ). 1817, there were 147 people in 20 houses. Since February 1, 1818, the village belonged to the district Rastenburg in the Prussian province of Prussia, later East Prussia. In May 1939 162 inhabitants were counted. End of January 1945, the village was overrun by the Soviet front and then placed under Polish administration. In 1970, the City 111 inhabitants. 1973 belonged to the mayor's office Gudziki two villages. Through administrative reform, the village was 1975 Olsztyn voivodeship.
