Guinea-Bissau national football team

The Guinea-Bissau national football team is the football selection of Guinea- Bissau, and is under the Federação de Futebol da Guine-Bissau. Previously you could qualify neither for the finals of the World Cup or for the African Cup.

The greatest successes in Guinea-Bissau football had been the final of the Amilcar Cabral Cup 1983, which lost the team against Senegal, as well as participation in the last three World Cup qualifying rounds.

In qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil, Guinea- Bissau met on 11 November 2011 at the Estádio Lino Correia in Bissau initially in return game to Togo. After a 1-1 draw in the home match the return leg 0-1 was lost, so the team was eliminated.

Known player

All currently operating in Europe Guinean national team play in Portugal, often only in the third division. A few professionals have it up in the Primeira Liga, the top division in Portugal, managed:

  • Evaldo Lopes Ribeiro ( b. 1972 ) played for the Erstligateams Vitória Guimarães and FC Penafiel.
  • Braímar Injai (* 1975) has performed for Boavista Porto.
  • Juve Nico Talhado Juba (* 1974) was three years old at UD Levante ( 1999-2002), currently the only Guinea-Bissau Spain Legionnaire. He also played for FC Alverca and Estrela Amadora.

There is also an active in the French professional football player:

  • Bocundji Ca, which stood until 2010 when FC Nancy under contract and is currently the second division club FC Tours under contract.
