Günter Müller

Günter Müller ( born October 20, 1954 in Munich) is a German improvisational musician and teacher of Fine Arts and Graphic Design.

Life and work

Mueller, who has lived in Switzerland since 1956, learned to play the drums as an autodidact. He combined it since 1981 with a mobile pickup and microphone system and electronics. Since 1998, MiniDisc and iPod are added. Müller played mostly in duo and trio with different musicians improvisation scene, such as Jim O'Rourke, George Lewis, Christian Marclay, Lê Quan Ninh, Keith Rowe, Carlos Zingaro, Michel Doneda, Urs Leimgruber, Gastr Del Sol, Otomo Yoshihide and Alfred Harth but also with groups such as the Blue deer ( Werner Lüdi, Wadi Gysi, Mich Gerber ) went on tour and played in larger collectives ( Butch Morris). He is a founding member of the trio night air ( with Andres Bosshard and Jacques Widmer ), which created sound installations, and electronic quartet poire_z with Norbert Möslang, Andy Guhl and Erik M. In addition, it also occurs as a soloist. He has given concerts in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

In 1990, Müller his own label For 4 Ears. But he has also recorded albums for Erstwhile, Cut, Grob, Audiosphere and more labels.
