The Guerbetal is a valley in Switzerland and refers to a region between Bern and Thun west of the Aare. The upper part is located in the administrative district of Thun, the lower the administrative district of Bern -Mittelland. The valley is named after the river Gürbe. Largest village in Guerbetal is Belp. The Gürbe and Aare Valley are separated by the Belpberg. West of the Guerbetal is flanked by the length of the mountain.

The Guerbetal has a maximum of one to two kilometers wide, flat valley floor, is operated on the intensive farming. As a result of frequent flooding the Gürbe was channeled and the surrounding valley drained. This was made possible on the fertile soil of farming and market gardening. On the fertile black soil is mainly white cabbage ( bern German Chabis ) grown, which is processed in factories in Burgistein and Mühlethurnen to Suurchabis ( sauerkraut ). This industry has the Guerbetal owed his nickname cabbage country.

Most of the Gürbetal is now part of the Regional Natural Park gantrisch. The Association Nature Park gantrisch also took over the functions of the former Transport Association Region Guerbetal.

The valley is accessible by the Gürbetalbahn Belp -Thun, this route is now part of BLS Netz AG. The traffic of the Bern S-Bahn is run by the BLS.
