Bern S-Bahn

The S- Bahn Bern ( Berne French RER ) wrapped around 100,000 travelers daily from a majority of the regional public transport in the agglomeration of Bern. As of 1995, it was begun to override the regional trains as S-Bahn. But in 1974 the RBS took on an S -Bahn regular interval services and since 1987 it was the diameter line from Thun to Laupen or Freiburg. In 1995, the second diameter line ( S2: Schwarzburg- Trubschachen ) added. The next enlargement was at 1997, when the diameter lines S3 Biel- Belp and Bern S4/S44 Bümplizstrasse North Burgdorf and were further put into operation. In addition, the remaining standard gauge Regionalzugsleistungen as S33, S5, S51 and S55 were called. Since the timetable change in December 2004, the narrow- gauge lines of the RBS are as S7, S8 and S9 integrated into the S-Bahn number system. On the timetable change 2008, the line links have been redesigned, the S11, S22 and S33 accounted for, new to the S52 and the S6 came.

With about 9 million per year Zugskilometer the S- Bahn Bern is the second largest S -Bahn Switzerland. The network is congruent approximately with the metropolitan region of Bern.

Lines and rolling stock

The S- Bahn Bern is currently (as of schedule 13/14) operated with 13 S -Bahn lines. In certain sections, several lines complement to a quarter or half hour. With the exception of the S31 ( Mon-Fri only and only to 21 clock ) all lines, at least hourly. At peak times ( HRT ) operating on individual lines S-Bahn without line number, it serves the south all stations S on the other hand skips individual. They are not to be confused with the Regio Express trains.

RegioExpress

Not directly involved in the network of S-Bahn Bern are various RE Regio Express trains, which connect the larger towns faster in the region together. You open up partly regions outside the S-Bahn perimeter. The following list shows all stations with connection or maintenance of the S-Bahn Bern are shown in bold.

The timetable change on 12 December 2004, the Swiss Federal Railways ( SBB) have withdrawn from the S-Bahn operation in Bern, but have it fully aligned with the long-distance transport to the BLS. Since the timetable change in 2011, however, the SBB wrong with RE from / to Bern, where these lines were previously managed as Interregio.
