History

The first written reference is from the year 1032. 1264 the place of Rudolf of Habsburg was conquered. 1267 was followed by Peter of Savoy, but already in 1269 Laupen was recaptured by Rudolf von Habsburg. In 1275 he gave the place the Tangible along the lines of Tangible the city of Bern. 1310 King Henry VII pledged its rights to Laupen to the city of Bern, stationed a bailiff in Laupen after 1324. The growing tensions between Bern and Fribourg in 1339 led to a local war between the city of Bern and its Burgundian Confederation, and Freiburg, supported by the lords of Burgundy and Habsburg, from the Bern emerged as the winner. This 600 Bernese were stationed in occupation of Laupen. The decision was made during the Battle of Bramberg, triggered by 6000 hurrying Berner with allies. Queen Agnes of Hungary mediated peace; Laupen remained in the city of Bern, which established itself as the leading regional power in the Aare valley.
