Gus Yatron

Constantine " Gus" Yatron ( born October 16, 1927 in Reading, Pennsylvania, † March 13, 2003 in Fairfax Station, Virginia ) was an American politician. Between 1969 and 1993 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Gus Yatron attended until 1946, the Reading High School. He then completed until 1950, the Kutztown State Teachers College. At that time, he played college football and was at times even boxers. Between 1955 and 1961 he was a member of the school board of the city of Reading. Business, he ran with his father an ice cream parlor, which he sold to a competitor in 1968. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. From 1956 to 1960 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania; 1960-1968 he was a member of the State Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1968 Yatron was in the sixth constituency of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of George M. Rhodes on January 3, 1969. After eleven re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1993 twelve legislatures. In this time were, among others, the end of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement, and in 1974, the Watergate affair. Yatron was temporarily a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and headed two of its subcommittees. He sat down among others for human rights as a cornerstone of American foreign policy.

1992 renounced Gus Yatron on another Congress candidate. In the following years he is no longer politically have appeared. He died on 13 March 2003 in Fairfax Station.
