Gyula Szapáry

Gyula Count de Szapáry Szapar, Muraszombat et Széchy - Sziget ( born November 1, 1832 in Pest, † January 20, 1905 in Opatija ) was a Hungarian politician and Prime Minister of Hungary from 1890 to 1892.

Life

Szapáry was a member of a magnate family and landowners. He studied law, entered the civil service and was Lord Lieutenant of the county Heves. He spent nine legislative sessions for the Liberal Party deputy in the Reichstag Budapest. In 1870 he went as Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport, 1873 Interior Minister, 1878-1887 Minister of Finance in the Tisza- government, then also Minister of Transport and Minister of Agriculture from 1889.
