Hagen–Hamm railway

The railway Hagen Hamm is a continuous double track and electrified main line in North Rhine -Westphalia, which runs from Hagen sword, Holzwickede Unna and Hamm.

History

The railway Hagen Hamm was built by the Bergisch- Märkischen Railway Company ( BME) to create a link to their existing Railway Elberfeld- Dortmund railway Dortmund- Soest, as well as the railway station Hamm.

The section between Holzwickede and Unna was opened by the BME within its railway Dortmund- Soest already on 9 July 1855. Ten years later, on January 18, 1866, then the section of Unna was handed over to Hamm the passenger, while the section from Hagen to Holzwickede followed on April 1, 1867 a year later.

Current situation

The railway line is operated by the regional Expressen lines RE7 "Rhine -Münster -Express " and RE13 " Maas- Wupper - Express " in full length. On the Hagen- sword section also operates the RE17 " Sauerland - Express", as well as on the Holzwickede Unna - section, the regional train line RB59 " Hellweg train".

In long-distance Intercity Express and Intercity relation ride from Cologne to Hamm ( and on to Berlin) also on this route.
