Hălchiu

Halchiu (German Heldsdorf, Transylvanian Saxon Hälzdref, Hungarian Höltövény ) is a municipality in the district of Brasov in Burzenland in Transylvania, Romania. It is located 16 km away from Brasov ( Kronstadt) away, 11 km from Coldea ( inside square brackets ) and 8 km from Feldioara ( Marienburg).

History

The local establishment took place after the award of the Burzenlandes to the German Teutonic Knights. Held village was first mentioned as a free community of former Burzenländer district in a royal privilege to 1377. On 14 January 1945, a total 306 residents Hero village were deported to the Soviet Union. 47 people did not survive the deportation.

In 2009 126 members of the Protestant community were still counted ( Transylvanian Saxons ).
