Halle Opera House

In 1886 opened the Municipal Theatre of Halle an der Saale ( built according to a design by the architect Heinrich Seeling and the engineer stump ), now houses the opera hall. At the time of its opening, the city theater was next to the Budapest Opera House, the technically advanced theaters in Europe.

The building was destroyed in the devastating March 31, 1945 in a bomb attack by bombs, particularly the stage area. The reconstruction took place under the direction of Kurt Hemmerling. The reconstructed building was very easy plastered. On the arched windows on the upper floor of the modernized front entrance was waived, rectangular windows doors were installed instead. The triangular pediment lost the sculptural decoration and pediment. The auditorium was largely changed. The stage was newly built, waiving the former cubature, the former facade and dome. As the almost completely renovated theater was inaugurated in 1951, it was as State Theatre District Hall in Saxony- Anhalt as a multi -genre theater the name National Theatre Hall. The building was called until 1992 the theater of peace. It was re-opened with the opera Fidelio.

Following extensive modernization measures, the Opera House has received his musical consecration on April 24, 1968, 20 clock with a symphony concert on the occasion of the 65th birthday of music director and chief conductor Horst- Tanu Margraf.

Among others who worked on this house: stage designer Rudolf Heinrich, director Heinz Rückert, conductor Horst- Tanu Margraf and dramaturge Waldtraut Lewin. They were in the 1950s with the Handel operas Ezio, Radamisto, Deidamia, Poros, Rinaldo (just to name a few ) heavily involved in the Handel Festival in Halle. This, the team got the Halle Handel Prize. A next heyday of Handel care was under the GMD Christian Kluttig and director Peter Konwitschny in the 80s of the last century.

Great singers were also in hall as, inter alia, Anny Schlemm, Jutta Vulpius, Irmgard Arnold, Philina Fischer, Margaret Herzberg, Werner Enders, Franz Stumpf, Wolfgang Sommer, Hellmuth Kaphahn, Günther body.

For this house was on 1 January 1992, the Halle Opera House shows, in the only intended exclusively for opera theater in Saxony- Anhalt. Gradually, the building was renovated and reconstructed. The exhibition facade ( south) was restored around 2000 by bauzeitlichem finding the east facade shows since 2011 back to its original appearance. In the next few years, a reconstruction of the west facade is provided with a terrace, later a stylish fairest possible new dome - if funding is secured.

The opera hall offers all lines and genres of musical theater. Since the season 2011/2012 it is artistically directed by Axel Köhler, known as a countertenor and director.

With the annual new productions of operas of George Frideric Handel, the most important son of the city, it sets international standards. The ensemble recorded the Goethe Theatre in Bad Lauchstaedt.

Overall, the Halle Opera House has 672 seats spread over floor, 1st and 2nd place, and are also accessible for disabled people.
