Hamoud bin Mohammed of Zanzibar

Sayyid Sir (since 1894) Hammud ibn Muhammad ibn Said al - Busaid (Arabic حمود بن محمد بن سعيد البوسعيد, DMG Hammud b Muḥammad b Sa ʿ īd al - Busa ʿ īd, .. * 1853, † July 18, 1902 ) was from 1896 to 1902 Sultan of Zanzibar.

Hammud was a son of Omani Prince Muhammad ibn Said and thus grandson of Sultan Said ibn Sultan of Oman and Zanzibar. After the death of his cousin Hamad ibn Said ibn Thuwaini he was appointed in 1896 by the British protectorate to the Sultan of Zanzibar.

Hammud was married to his cousin Chanfura bint Majid, the daughter of Sultan Majid bin Said of Zanzibar, and ruled on August 27, 1896 until his death. First, however, had to sell another cousin and heir apparent, Khalid ibn Bargash, the British in the British Zanzibari war. Hammuds successor as Sultan in 1902 were his son Ali ibn Hammud, who had been educated in England, and in 1911 his son- Khalifa ibn Harub, who was married to Hammuds daughter Matika.

Hammuds Bashan daughter was married to a son of the former sultan Ali ibn Said.
