Hamr na Jezeře

Hamr na Jezeře ( German hammer at the lake) is a municipality of Okres Ceska Lipa in the Liberec Region in the north of the Czech Republic, to the south of the Lusatian Mountains. It lies in the valley of the river Ploučnice ( Polzen ), two kilometers east of Straz pod Ralskem ( Wartenberg ).

History

In the 16th century the settlement was founded at an iron hammer. In order to provide the necessary water for operating the hammer, a reservoir was created, known as Hammersee today. On the nearby surveys Devin ( Devin ) and Hamerský Špičák (Hammer Spitzberg ) and in the wider environment where the processed iron ore were once mined. From the mid-19th century made ​​Hammer a municipality in the district court or in the district Niemes Bohemian Leipa.

Before 1945, the place was known as a health resort and was called Bad hammer on the lake. Starting in 1963, the place was in the uranium mining area of Straz pod Ralskem. This mining was discontinued in 1996. For security reasons, the lake had to be drained at this time; the place lost its importance for tourism. In the years 1994/95, the dam was renovated and dammed the lake again.

Community structure

The community Hamr na Jezeře consists of the districts Břevniště ( Merzdorf ) Hamr na Jezeře (Hammer on the lake) and Útěchovice (Audi horn). Basic settlement units are Břevniště, Hamr na Jezeře, Hutník and Útěchovice.

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Břevniště pod Ralskem and Hamr na Jezeře.
