Hamry (Klatovy District)

Hamry ( German hammers ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 21 km southwest of Klatovy and belongs to Okres Klatovy.

Geography

Hamry located in the northern part of the Bohemian Forest in Künischen mountains at the headwaters of the Úhlava. To the north lies the drinking water reservoir Nýrsko and Kravař ( 659 m). In the east, the Maly Prenet raise ( Small Brennetberg, 1006 m) and the Velky Prenet ( Big Brennetberg, 1071 m). To the south lie the Jezerní hora ( High sea wall, 1343 m) with the cliff face Jezerní stěna ( Seewand ), the Karsee The Black Jezero ( Black Lake ), the waterfall Bila strž ( clip Bach case ) and the Zwercheck ( 1333 m) and the Velky Kokrháč ( 1229 m). History

Hammering probably originated in the early 13th century as part of the settlement of the Künischen Mountains under Albrecht III. of arc. After the extinction of the family of the Counts of Bogen village in 1273 fell back to the Bohemian crown.

Was first documented hammers in 1429th The village lay on the iron road leading along the Úhlava from Bohemia to Bavaria and was part of the territory of the künischen Yeomanry.
