Hannes Schäfer

John Shepherd ( born October 2, 1965 in Göttingen ) is a German physician and former rock musician (bass, vocals). In 1987 he was a founding member of the German rock band Fury in the Slaughterhouse and until 1996 their bassist. Unusually for a rock star is his second career: At the climax of the musical success Shepherd rose in 1996 from the band to take a medical degree at the age of 30 years, which he followed approval, promotion, specialist doctor and own practice foundation.

Career

Musician

Shepherd's first band was in 1982 the Hanoverian punk band defect, in which he was bassist and singer. From 1985 to 1987 he played among others with Mousse T. in the jazz rock band CIT. During this time he also worked as a studio musician in staccato Studio Hannover.

In 1987, together with Thorsten Schäfer and Kai Wingenfelder and Rainer Schumann and Christof Stein -Schneider in Hanover rock band Fury in the Slaughterhouse, in which he played for nine years as a bass player. He was replaced by Christian Decker 1996.

For the three albums Fury Fury in the Slaughterhouse (1988 ), Mono (1992) and The Hearing and the Sense of Balance (1995 ) got Hannes Schäfer conferred with his band a total of six gold records. The band sold a total of about 3 million records from the period with Hannes Schäfer. Shepherd's band was very happy occurs: The Fury's usually played more than 100 concerts per year. One of the first foreign tour through Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavia followed in 1992 together with Steve Harley a very successful tour of the British Isles. Doctor

Hannes Schäfer comes from an old family physician who has produced several generations of doctors and university teachers. His grandfather Otto Schmidt headed from 1949 to 1962, the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Criminology at the University of Göttingen and still enjoys in professional circles by his nickname " Murder Otto" a high level of awareness. Schmidt's daughter, Hannes Schäfer's mother Sonja Sybille Shepherd was one of the first women professors rank at the Hannover Medical School.

After leaving Fury in the Slaughterhouse Hannes Schäfer studied medicine at the Georg -August- University of Göttingen and at the Hannover Medical School. After completing his studies, he completed his doctorate at the MHH and then worked as a surgeon. He later continued his education at Hanover North City Hospital and St. Vincent Hospital in Hanover to the gynecologist and now works as a specialist gynecologist in private practice in Hanover-List.
