Hans Skramstad

Hans Skramstad (* 1797 in Østre Toten, Norway, baptized December 26, † June 15, 1839 in Bergen, Norway) was a Norwegian composer and pianist.

He made his debut as a pianist in 1819 in Christiania, now Oslo, Norway but then left, presumably to study in Paris. From 1822 to 1826, he gave concerts in several Norwegian cities and also in Stockholm and Copenhagen. He later traveled to Germany, France and Switzerland, where he had planned to make a name for himself as a virtuoso pianist. From 1835 until his death he worked in Norway (mainly in Christiania ) as a piano teacher.

His surviving works are exclusively for piano and include four sets of variations, a waltz and a march for four hands.
