Hans Stacey

Hans Stacey ( born March 9, 1958 in Eindhoven ) is a Dutch rally and rally raid driver from Best His nickname is " Racey Stacey ".

Stacey took some years to the Dutch Rally Championship and in 1991 and 1992 on a Mitsubishi Galant VR -4 Dutch rally champion. In 1997 he won the International Dutch Rally Championship in a Ford Escort RS Cosworth and 2001 on a Subaru Impreza WRC.

Hans Stacey started sporadically at rounds of the World Rally Championship. It was founded in 1995 at the Rally of Catalonia second in Group N. 1999 succeeded the class victory in the Rally of Great Britain. In addition, he won 50 times in Group N and Group A at rounds of the European Rally Championship.

Since 2004, Stacey takes part in the Dakar Rally. He started at the beginning with a DAF, a year later with a MAN in the truck class. In the 2007 Dakar Rally Stacey succeeded for the first time the overall victory. He followed in the footsteps of his uncle Jan de Rooy, who won the last Dutch the truck category of the Dakar Rally 1987 exactly 20 years earlier.

A year later, Stacey wanted with his new MAN TGS defend this success, but the Dakar Rally was canceled in 2008 due to terrorist threat. In the same year he won at the Central Europe Rally, the replacement date of the Dakar Rally and the Rally Trans Siberia. In the 2009 Dakar Rally, he fell on the sixth stage.
