Hans von Sagan

Hans Sagan is a fictional, in the saga of traditional shoemaker, who is said to have decided by his bravery in the battle of Rudau the Litauerkriegen in 1370 in favor of the Teutonic Order. For that he should have been promoted to Altgesellen by Emperor Charles IV (or the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order ) and ennobled. He is the main character of the saga The blue sleeve in the German legends of the Ludwig Bechstein and one of the main characters in the dramatic poetry The Battle of Rudau of Agnes Miegel.

In his honor, was later a monument in Königsberg in Kneiphof. This was considered so unattractive that it is still in the 1930s, a popular saying was, after someone " ugly as Hans Sagan " was. In Konigsberg, there was a Hans Sagan road that connected the Stresemannstraße with the Samitter Avenue.
