Hansjörg Göritz

Hansjörg Göritz ( born June 5, 1959 in Hanover ) is a German architect, professor and author. For his early work he was awarded in 1996 with the sponsorship prize for architecture to Berlin Art Prize of the Berlin Academy of Arts. In 2012 he was honored as Affiliated Fellow of the American Academy in Rome.

Life

Hansjörg Göritz was born in 1959 as the son of a bricklayer and grew up with crafts in rural areas in Lower Saxony. After leaving school he trained as a bricklayer. He studied architecture at the Fachhochschule Hildesheim / Holzminden in Hildesheim and at the London Architectural Association School of Architecture. After traveling in the Mediterranean, to the Cistercian monasteries, the landscape gardens in England and Scandinavia, he worked since 1986 in Hanover and in Berlin since 2007.

He designed the National Forum and Parliament of the Principality of Liechtenstein, the first in the country's history. The Bahnhof Hannover -Nord city was built with cobalt blue glass stone a Florentine glassworks and blue pigmented concrete for the Expo 2000 opened to S-Bahn Hannover.

Hansjörg Göritz taught architecture as a guest at the Hildesheim University of Applied Sciences and Arts 1995-1997, a professor at the Fachhochschule Dortmund 1999-2001 and since 2007 has been professor at the University of Tennessee in the College of Architecture and Design. 1993 Göritz was appointed to the Association of German Architects (BDA ) and 2000 in the German Werkbund ( DWB), and since 2007 he has International Associate in the American Institute of Architects ( AIA).
