Hărău

HARAU [ hɘrɘu ] (deprecated Harou; Haren German, Hungarian Haró or Harrogate ) is a municipality in the district of Hunedoara in Transylvania, Romania.

Geographical location

The municipality is located in southwestern HARAU Transylvania, west of the Transylvanian Basin ( Podişul Transilvaniei ). In the Mureş Valley and the county road (drum Judetean ) DJ 107A located, the place is located about ten kilometers north-west of the small town Simeria; the district capital Deva ( Deva ) is located approximately 15 kilometers southwest of HARAU away. Only about half of the roads connecting the villages of the municipality are paved. On the grounds of the eingemeindeten village Chimindia (a right tributary of the Mureş Vărmaga, ) are occurrences of carbonated mineral springs ( ⊙ 45.9019222.98257 ) and Banpotoc ( Bonbach ) in Vărmagaer Valley to mention travertine and marble.

History

The place HARAU was first mentioned in documents in 1360. However, the history of settlement in the region dates back far longer. Called by the locals Chetatea ( Földvár ) - - On the grounds of the resort were, according to G. Téglás, I. Martian and M. Roska findings which indicate in the Early Bronze Age, made ​​. Population

1850 lived on the territory of the present municipality of 2,263 people. 1,844 of these were Romanians, 344 Hungarians, 74 were Roma and eleven without information. The highest population ( 2,951 ) was achieved in 1910. The highest number of Romanians ( 2511 ) in 1956, which the Magyars (400) in 1880, the Roma in 1850 and the Germans ( 26) was determined in 1880. In addition, in 1880 per one resident called a Slovak and a Serb, and 1956 as a Ukrainian. In the 2011 census, 2231 people were counted in 905 households in the community.
