The Hardknott Pass is a mountain pass in the Lake District in Cumbria, England.

The pass is at an altitude of 393 m and is bounded to the north from the summit of Hardknott and in the south from the summit of Harter Fell. From the west, a road of Ravenglass through the Eskdale Valley over the Hardknott Pass. The road drops to the east in the Duddon Valley. The road was built in the 2nd century by the Romans to connect its port and the fort at Ravenglass with their fort at Ambleside. At an altitude of 200 m are located on the western side of the pass today, the remains of a Roman fort, which is managed by English Heritage.

The road is often closed with an incline of up to 30 percent of one of the steepest in England and in the winter due to ice and snow.
