Harout Pamboukjian

Harout Pamboukjian (Armenian Հարութ Փամբուկչյան ) ( born in 1950 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, Soviet Union ) is an Armenian American pop singer living in Los Angeles. His Armenian dance, folk and revolutionary songs helped him among the Armenians to popularity.

Youth

In the early teens he took lessons for various instruments, including guitar, bouzouki and saz ( plucked ), Dhol and piano; later he was a member of the band Erebouni. His interest in music came about by the fact that his mother was a singer. His band moved from village to village and played it all by Charles Aznavour to Deep Purple and Elvis, and this also at weddings and at universities. Due to the restrictions in the Soviet Union left Harout and most of his family, the Soviet Armenia in 1975. After a year in Lebanon, he moved to Los Angeles and took up his residence in Hollywood.
