Harry Brautigam

Harry E. Brautigam Ortega ( born October 29, 1948 in Bluefields, † 30 May, 2008 Tegucigalpa ) was a Nicaraguan economist and last bank president.

Training

Harry Brautigam his doctorate at the University of Illinois (USA), after he had already acquired university degrees as a Master's in Economics from the University of Leeds ( UK) and an MBA from the Universidad de Guadalajara ( Mexico).

Career

From 1984, Brautigam was in the development of Latin American financial market with various approved financial institutions in the United States, especially in the areas of corporate finance, capital markets, loan administration, trade and international financial institutions operate.

He held various management positions, among others, in the regional office of Barclays Capital for Latin America in Miami. After that, he was with Bank of America managing director for relations with Central and South America and the Caribbean; Chief Economist for Latin America at Bank of Boston, and assistant professor of economics and international exchange at the University of Delaware (USA). Prior to his appointment to the BCIE he was a board member of Navarro Lowrey / BE Inc. in the area of ​​business development in Latin America.

From September 2003, he served for five years as Chief Executive Officer in the Central American Bank for Economic Integration ( BCIE ) after he was elected by the Board from 165 candidates.

Death

Shortly before the end of his term Harry Brautigam died according to the authorities of a heart attack in a hospital in Tegucigalpa ( Honduras), shortly after he was injured in the plane crash of an Airbus A320 of TACA at Tegucigalpa on 30 May 2008 rescued from the rubble.
