Harry Cameron

Harold "Harry" Hugh Cameron ( born February 6, 1890 in Pembroke, Ontario, Canada, † October 20, 1953 ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who during his career 1917-1923 for the Toronto Arenas, the Ottawa Senators, the Toronto St. Patricks and the Montreal Canadiens played in the National Hockey League. Overall, he played seven years in the NHL. Since 1962 he is member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Career

Cameron began his NHL career in the season 1917/18 at the Toronto Arenas, with which he could win the Stanley Cup in the first year after he had won it with the Toronto Blueshirts four years earlier for the first time. In the following years he played in Ottawa and Montreal. 1919 and 1920, however, he returned again to Toronto, where he celebrated his third Stanley Cup victory of his career with the St. Patricks in the season 1921/22. After the 1922/23 season the Canadians finished his career in the NHL and let them finish in lower leagues. In 1933, he ended his career for good. Cameron was in his playing days in the NHL one of the most prolific and technically gifted defender.

In addition, Cameron succeeded in 1917, the first historically mentioned Gordie Howe hat trick, which was neither popular nor known by that name at that time.
