1922–23 NHL season
The NHL season 1922/23, was the sixth season of the National Hockey League. They played 24 games and the top two played in two games the NHL winner. The league leaders, the Ottawa Senators defeated the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 gates and met in the semifinals on the winner of the PCHA, the Vancouver Maroons against which they prevailed 3-1. Then the final against the Edmonton Eskimos, the winner of the WCHL also took place in Vancouver. This series won the Ottawa Senators 2-0 and won the third Stanley Cup in four years. King Clancy played in the finals in all six positions. Even his goalie he represented when he had to serve a penalty for hitting floor. The Montreal Canadiens traded before the season their former leading scorer Newsy Lalonde to Saskatoon in the Western Canada League for $ 3,500 to an unknown amateur named Aurel Joliat.
