1922–23 WCHL season

The season 1922/23, was the second regular season of the Western Canada Hockey League ( WCHL ). Masters were the Edmonton Eskimos.

Mode

In the regular season, the four teams each completed 30 games. The winner became champion. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw one point and a defeat.

Course of the season

In the regular season the league played its first match in a common game plan with teams from the Pacific Coast Hockey Association, which has had to adapt its regulatory framework in some important points for this reason, such as the seventh player no longer used in the WCHL abolish on the position of the rover. The WCHL teams could decide only nine of the 24 games against the teams in the PCHA for themselves. The Edmonton Eskimos finally were able to confidently assert with 39 points and moved into the Stanley Cup Challenge. In addition, the Crescents, who had finished in Moose Jaw the preseason returned back to Saskatoon.

Stanley Cup Challenge

In the semi-finals for the Stanley Cup, the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League win against the Vancouver Maroons in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association. Then the WCHL champion Edmonton Eskimos against the Ottawa Senators had to play in the final series, but lost 0-2 victories.
