1937–38 NHL season
The NHL season 1937/38, was the 21st season of the National Hockey League. Eight teams each played 48 games. The Stanley Cup won by the Chicago Blackhawks after a 3-1 victory in the final series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. As a true fan, there was Chicago's junior goalie Alfie Moore. He followed his team for the first final game to Toronto at its own cost and also got a ticket. On warming, Mike Karakas, the regular keeper of the Hawks, a toe and could not play broke. Moore stepped in and the Hawks won the game 3-1. Since Moore but had no professional contract, its use in the second game of the NHL was prohibited. Also before the first final game, there was a scuffle between players Baldy Cotton Toronto and Chicago coach Bill Stewart. Stewart, until then, baseball coach, had been obliged to start of the season. He was the first born in the United States coach to win the Stanley Cup. Also another Stewart made for a sports highlight. As the first player Nels Stewart scored his 300th goal in the NHL.
