Cully Dahlstrom

Cully Dahlstrom ( born July 3, 1913 in Minneapolis, Minnesota; † 19 December 1998) was an American professional ice hockey player who played during his active career, among other things for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League.

Career

Cully Dahlstrom played from 1931 to 1934 in his hometown for the Minneapolis Millers in the CHL. He then spent three years for the St. Paul Saints in the CHL and AHA in use. In 1935/36 and 1936/37, he came to 49 or 50 missions in the AHA and each scored 43 points. With Inter -League Draft in May 1937, he was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League. Already in his debut season, Dahlstrom earned a place in the NHL squad, he did not relinquish it again during his engagements in Chicago. In 48 games of the regular season (1937 /38) he scored 19 points and was awarded a reward as the best rookie of the year with the Calder Trophy.

In the same season he won with the Blackhawks the prestigious Stanley Cup. During eight years of his engagements in Chicago, he came regularly used and managed in the 1943/44 season with 42 points in 50 games of the regular season, his best season statistically. At the opening of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973 Dahlstrom has been included as one of the 25 founding members in this hall of fame, along with Hobey Baker, Frank Brimsek, John Mariucci, Sam LoPresti and other former players.
