Sergei Makarov

Sergei Mikhailovich Makarov (Russian: Сергей Михайлович Макаров; born June 19, 1958 in Chelyabinsk, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and member of the IIHF Hall of Fame.

Career

As an outstanding talented hockey player Makarov was trained in the Soviet Union. He won two World Junior Championships and was during his second victory in 1978 named as the best player. With the Soviet national team, he could in the years 1979, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1989 and 1990 1981 Canada Cup win the World Ice Hockey Championships and.

In the Winter Olympics, he won also with the Soviet national team, twice the gold medal (1984 and 1988) and one silver medal (1980).

In the Soviet Union Makarov played from 1978 to 1989 for HK CSKA Moscow. During this time he was eight Soviet player of the year and sat down nine times in the first place of the scoring table.
