1963–64 NHL season
The NHL season 1963/64, was the 47th season in the National Hockey League. Six teams each played 70 games. The Stanley Cup won by the Toronto Maple Leafs after a 4-3 victory in the final series against the Detroit Red Wings for the third time in a row. Gordie Howe sat down with 545 gates at the top of all NHL scorers. In the same game as goalie Terry Sawchuk Howe also broke the record with his 94th shutout No. hero of the Finals was Toronto's defending champion Bob Baun. In Game 6, he was hit by a puck and had to be carried off the ice on a stretcher. Baun returned and decided the game in overtime.
