Bill Thoms

Bill Thoms ( born March 5, 1910 in Newmarket, Ontario, † December 26, 1964 in Toronto, Ontario) was a Canadian ice hockey player ( center ) and coach, from 1918 to 1928 for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Black Hawks and Boston Bruins played in the National Hockey League.

Career

During his junior time Thoms played at the West Toronto Nationals and the Toronto Marlboros in the OHA. His first stop in the pros were the Syracuse Stars in the IHL, where he stood together with Syd Howe in the squad.

In the NHL, he came in the season 1932/33, with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Here he took in 1934 at the inaugural NHL All-Star Game in favor of Ace Bailey part. For the Leafs he scored in the season 1935/36, 23 goals, with which he led the scorers in the NHL with his teammate Charlie Conacher.

During the season 1938/39, it was specified in the dip for Elwyn Romnes to the Chicago Blackhawks. Here he was at the beginning of the 1940s the best scorer on the team. In January 1945 he moved to the Boston Bruins. There he played the season to end before he ended his active career.

Shortly afterwards he took over the coaching job at the Toronto Marlboros. Shortly before the end of 1964, he died of a heart attack.
