Harry Secombe

Harry Donald Secombe ( born September 8, 1921 in Swansea, Wales, † April 11, 2001 in Guildford, England ) was a British actor and singer.

Life

Formed in 1949 together with Harry Secombe, Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan and Michael Bentine the " Blödel troop" Goons, which occurred in 1951 under the title The Goon Show successfully on the radio. Secombe played in movies and countless TV shows and acted (by the way ) and in musicals.

In the British hit parade his name appears for the first time in 1955 with " On With The Motley " on, a top 20 hit. His greatest success after another top 20 listing in 1963 was in the spring of 1967, a new version of " This Is My Song ", which brought it to the UK at # 2. The number had been written by Charlie Chaplin.

1981 Harry Secombe became the " Commander of the Order of the British Empire" ( CBE) appointed.
