Harry van der Kamp

Harry van der Kamp (* 1947 in Kampen ) is a Dutch singer of vocal registers bass baritone and bass. He is known for oratorio and lieder, particularly in the field of early music.

Life

Van der Kamp first studied law and psychology in Amsterdam. He then studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam singing with Elizabeth Cooymans and Max van Egmond.

He distinguished himself especially in the music of the Renaissance and the Baroque, and has appeared in numerous Baroque operas, including by composers such as Francesco Cavalli, Stefano Landi, Antonio Cesti, Henry Purcell, Jean -Philippe Rameau, Reinhard Keiser and George Frideric Handel. In the Nederlandse Opera he sang Monteverdi's opera L' Orfeo and L' incoronazione di Poppea and in Reves d'un Marco Polo by Claude Vivier.
